Founder of The Sister Social
I mean this wholeheartedly when I say this, I do - it means so much to me that you're here. Really.
Creating a space like the Sister Social had been on my heart for about a year but I was so fearful that no one would join or be interested. Thanks to much encouragement from a dear friend (s/o Tyann Avery, Founding Member) - I began our social community on September 8th, 2023.
After graduating from THE North Carolina A&T State University, I moved back to Columbus, OH where I set out to re-build and expand my village which was much harder than I thought. While meeting a lot of amazing black women in my desire to make more friends, I noticed that there were two things that we all had in common - one, the desire to meet more black women/"find your village" and two, having much difficulty in doing so. Out of this, The Sister Social was born.
Whether you're new to the city, have a desire to make new/more friends, or simply want to just get out more, I created Sister Social to serve as a safe space that black women could gather and have the opportunity to build and nourish relationships rooted in love, support, and compassion.
This is more than just a social community/group, this is a sisterhood where you, as a black woman, can find support and exist authentically. We are a village. We are a space in which black women can come and find community, love, and acceptance. If there's one thing that I want you to know about Sister Social know that here, you are always welcomed with open arms.
I hope to see you soon!
