“Sisterhood is acceptance. Sisterhood is understanding. Sisterhood is compassion.”
- Phylicia Rashad
Founder of The Sister Social
As a black woman, there is truly nothing like our own sisterhood. To find and build bonds amongst ourselves that are rooted in love, support, and compassion is truly a feeling indescribable.
In my search to form new relationships, I noticed that there were two things that everyone had in common - one, the desire to meet more black women/"find your village" and two, having much difficulty in doing so. I so hoped that there was a page, a group, a platform that I could go to for black women to meet and gather. Out of this, The Sister Social was born.
This is more than just a social community/group, this is a sisterhood. The Sister Social is a safe place for black women to exist authentically. We are a village. We are a space in which black women can come and find community, love, and acceptance. Know that here, you are always valued, and welcomed with open arms.
